As the electrical safety awareness increasingly grows, the switching power supplies nowadays are designed to have a series of protection features, such as Over Voltage Protection (OVP), Over Current Protection (OCP), etc. Besides, quality power supplies should have gone through a sequence of performance tests, including Mean Time Before Failure (MTBF), Hold-Up Time, Ripple & Noise, No-Load Power Consumption, Dielectric Withstanding Voltage (DWV), etc. Hence, “who is the manufacturer” becomes a prime consideration as a certified and well-reputed manufacturer not only has the R&D capabilities, but follows the existing safety regulations on the market to protect the users.

Direct current (DC) is an electric current that is unidirectional, providing a constant voltage or current in one direction. Electric current in dry cell, for example, flows from the positive terminal to the negative terminal in a constant direction, but the magnitude may be unstable as time passes, showing different waveforms.

Alternating current (AC) is an electric current that changes direction and magnitude periodically with time, and is presenting in Hertz (Hz), meaning the frequency in cycles per second. The frequency may vary depending on the country. Alternating current can be transmitted effectively with less loss-producing, and can convert the mechanical energy into electrical energy. Through a voltage transformer, the AC voltage can be adjusted; therefore, AC is the type of electric current that is mostly used by electric power companies for transmitting electricity.

1. Get to know the following basic information about the power supply you require: What are the applications, operation temperatures, and product features? Any safety certificates and product testing? How’s the reputation of the manufacturer?

2. Determine the wattage you need: Choose the PSU which has a higher wattage than the device; however, choosing an over higher wattage PSU is not necessary.

3. Choose the PSU with high-efficiency ratings: The ratings are rated under load temperatures, but not room temperatures. The efficiency of ratings will determine the cost of your electricity in the future.

4. Check the robustness of the PSU: The ability to handle changes in current for a PSU should be one of the factors that need to be taken into account. This may not be a criterion, but most of the time the PSU with greater weight represents a larger component (capacitor).

A power supply, also known as a power supply unit or PSU, is a device that generally converts the alternating current (AC) into low-voltage regulated direct current (DC) power (AC/DC), or converts the direct current (DC) into low-voltage regulated direct current (DC) power (DC/DC) to ensure the electronic components can work properly. Each internal component of an electronic device needs a particular voltage; hence, the PSU can usually provide more than one DC voltage at the same time.

製品品番は三つの英文字+数字(通常は定格容量当たりの数字)からなっています。
